Patrick J. Thomas grew up in Kansas City, Kansas with his first dog, an Irish Setter. As a child, when most little boys were skinning their knees, Patrick took on odd jobs to raise money to buy breed specific books so he could study the differences of each breed. His fascination hasn't slowed.
Patrick is a past Board Member of the Great Dane Club of South Florida. He has handled dogs professionally since 1987, and in several different registries and is best known for his show dog "Boot Camp". In this 2-4 week course, he helps dogs mentally prepare to show, through positive behavior modification that teaches confidence. In his spare time, Patrick mentors owner-handlers in showing their own dogs, with a conformation course at the North Fort Myers dog training club. Patrick has professionally handled several different breeds from each of the breed groups. He has privately owned and shown the following breeds: Irish setter, Alaskan Malamute, Siberian Husky's, Great Danes, Black and Tan Coonhound and Vizlas. In addition to his participation he has judged many different AKC sanctioned all breed and specialty matches and sweepstakes, including a rare breed specialty. Patrick has been a contributing writer for Husky Tracks Magazine, in the column "A Tip From The Professional". Patrick, Mary and their son, currently live in the Fort Myers area. |
