Patrick Thomas All Breed Professional Handling- Patrick Thomas has been professionally handling dogs since 1987. He has finished and pointed dogs at each of the dog show groups and miscellaneous breeds. Patrick is a soft-handed handler, who believes that the best way to produce a Champion is to make the dog want to love the show. He achieves this through positive reinforcement.
Patrick teaches others how to handle. He has been a contributing writer for Husky Tracks Magazine, in the column "A Tip From The Professional". He teaches a conformation handlers class in the North Fort Myers, Florida area and all are welcome to come. Patrick provides several types of handling services. Ringside Handling is where the dog owner grooms and trains their show dog. The owner will also provide transportation to and from the show ring for their future champion. Palm Creek Kennels understands that your show dog is a pet first and a show dog second. With most show dog owners, Ringside handling is the preferred method. In todays busy and hectic schedules, many owners do not have the time necessary to invest in training their pet. The owners of these show pets may find an away from home training program more suitable for their dog. "Boot Camp" Training is an intense, short term learning program usually two to four weeks long. The program is designed to get the most out of the dogs ability to learn, away from the distractions of the home environment. Of course, just like any other learning and training program, the desired results vary from breed to breed and dog to dog. It is recommended the owner enhance these results with 5 minute daily follow up trainings. Grooming, Boarding, Transportation is for those who want to finish a dog faster than the previously mentioned methods. You will finish your dog a lot quicker when the dog has bonded strongly with its handler. This can be accomplished most easily when the dog is required to depend on that particular handler. |
